Details

[Affected versions]: - latest Nightly, beta 56.ob4, Firefox rc 55.0 [Affected platforms]: - Ubuntu 16.04 x64 [Steps to reproduce]: 1. Launch Firefox and install 'Crash Me Now!' add-on. 2. Open youtube.com and play a video. 3. Crash the browser. [Expected result]: - The video stops playing. [Actual result]: - The video continues to play even after you restart the browser and it doesn't stop playing until you close it. [Regression range]: This is an old regression and I couldn't generate a link using Firefox Regression Range Link Maker (https://bsmedberg.github.io/firefox-regression-range-finder/) - last good: 2016-10-06 (build id: 20161006030208) - first bad: 2016-10-07 (build id: 20161007030207)

Doesn't 'restart' imply you have to 'close' the > browser first? Crashing the browser closes it and a Bug Report window appears. There you have the option to close Firefox or restart it. If you choose to restart it, you can still hear the song playing in the background. Only if you choose to close the browser, the song stops playing. I hope this clarifies things a little bit.
(In reply to Oana Botisan from comment #2) > If you choose to restart it, you can still hear the song playing in the > background. Only if you choose to close the browser, the song stops playing. It looks like 'restart' doesn't kill the content process correctly so audio keeps playing in the content process. Not sure if this is an XPCOM issue or browser chrome issue.
