User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:55.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/55.0 Build ID: 20170824053622 Steps to reproduce: 1. Accessed https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/. 2. Clicked on "Windows, Norwegian (Bokmål) (35 MB)". Actual results: 1. Got the download page, which (due to my browser locale or language) displayed: Main Downloads SeaMonkey 2.48 Windows, Norwegian (Bokmål) (35 MB) Find further downloads below 2. Got "404 Not Found" Expected results: The Norwegian (Bokmål) language version should not have been displayed, since it no longer exists in v2.48. Quoting from www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.48/#new: "Language support for [...], nb-No, [...] has been dropped". Instead, the English (British) version should be displayed as the main download, as this would be the preferred alternative for most Norwegians.
NOT reproducible with unzipped installer of official en-US SeaMonkey 2.53a1 (NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0 Build 20170706013410 (Default Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit: a1) <https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/2.46> still shows "Norwegian (Bokmål)" a2) <https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/> does not @reporter: Please clear cache (Menu'edit → Preferences → Advanced → Cache) and visit page again Please feel free to reopen if you see well founded indication that the bug really does exist.

Rainer, did you set your browser's preferred language to nb-NO / Norwegian Bokmål before testing? Note that the error applies to the Main Download link at the top of the web page, which adapts to the browser's language setting. I am for the most part (see details below) still getting the same result even after clearing the cache and restarting the browser. Tested on Win7 computer using: SeaMonkey 2.46: bug reproduced (also after clearing cache) Firefox 55: bug reproduced (also after clearing cache) Internet Explorer 11: bug reproduced (also after clearing cache) Tested on another computer running Win10, using: SeaMonkey: not installed Firefox 55: works correctly, for some strange reason! Internet Explorer 11: bug reproduced (first time accessing seamonkey-project.org in this browser on this computer) Edge: bug reproduced (first time accessing seamonkey-project.org in this browser on this computer) Tested on old Samsung phone (S4 mini) running Android, using: Internet browser: bug reproduced, providing dead link to Linux version in Norwegian Bokmål (first time accessing seamonkey-project.org in this browser on this device) Chrome: bug reproduced, providing dead link to Linux version in Norwegian Bokmål (first time accessing seamonkey-project.org in this browser on this device) Suggest someone test on a Mac as well. Probably same error there.

(In reply to Lars Hallstrøm Eriksen from comment #2) You are right, I should have had a look at the screenshot. Steps how to reproduce NOT reproducible REPRODUCIBLE with unzipped installer of official en-US SeaMonkey 2.53a1 (NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0 Build 20170706013410 (Default Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit: 1. Browser menu ˋEdit → Preferences → Browser → Languages → Add "Norwegian (Bokmål)" if necessary → Move to the top → [OK]ˊ 2. Visit <https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/> Bug: Green "Main Downloads" area suggests "Norwegian (Bokmål) (35 MB)" <https://download.mozilla.org/?product=seamonkey-2.48&os=win&lang=nb-NO> which does not exist. I see this one as a websites - www.seamonkey-project.org problem @reporter: Can you please also test other languages which vanished with 2.48?

nb-NO will be back with 2.49.1 but not sure how to solve it. It should only occur if you use a browser translated in one of the dropped languages.

(In reply to Frank-Rainer Grahl (:frg) from comment #6) > It should only occur if you use a browser translated in one of the dropped languages. No, has nothing to do with UI-language, but with preferred Language in the 'Languages Preferences panel' (See my step 1). Help text: "A web page can sometimes be available in several languages. In the Languages Preferences panel, you can configure SeaMonkey so the page is shown in the language you prefer. You can have multiple languages and list them in order of preference". And a Finnish SM user probably always will have "fi" as preference there. I remember that some Languages Preferences panel preferences correctly leaded to en-US download because the the Language does not exist for UI. I forgot for which Languages that already works, but that can be a model how we should proceed for languages listed under "User Story" above.
Clearing old NIs
Flags: needinfo?(bugzilla)

The downloads page is now to do with the current 2.53.x release and the https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/2.48 page doesn't mention any of the languages in the user story, so marking as WFM

As the one who originally reported the problem, I can confirm that the problem is solved (at least for language Norwegian (Bokmål)). The reason may be that this language is now supported again (has been supported for several releases).
