(Reporter: tech4pwd, Unassigned, NeedInfo)
Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0
Build ID: 20170919111757
Steps to reproduce:
So this one is really frustrating. Sometimes the items added to the overflow missing aren't there. In fact more often than not they're not there. Swiping Fennec from memory and loading again can only get it back up sometimes. I full system restart inevitably returns them. It's an all round terrible user experience.

Wesly would someone on the Fennec team be able to help us diagnose this for 57?

Sorry Andy, I doubt if we are able to check this recently as we have less than 2 people in 58 nightly cycle and we have Photon (57 Beta) and PWA in hands. I'll put it into our Sprint list to see if we can get them into the coming Sprints.

Re-reading this I'm not sure what some of the things are in this report. "items added to the overflow"... whats the overflow on Android? Desktop has an overflow menu, but I'm unclear what that is in Android. Presumably you are talking about Android. I haven't been able to reproduce this on my Android.
Do you have particular extensions installed that I could test with and explain what we are looking for?

Overflow menu on Android is simply the menu/3-dot menu: https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/menus.html#options-menu
I have uBlock Origin installed, Cookie AutoDelete, Duplicate Tabs Closer and Decentraleyes.
These WE items sometimes aren't available across two separate devices. This has also been noted by other people on Reddit.

Marking as P3 until someone on the Android team can comment.

Any chance we can get this on someone's radar? Users shouldn't have to keep removing Fennec from memory just to try and access add-on actions.

Paul, allow me to get more clarification before next step. And sorry that we are still working on other tasks with a small team so may not able to address this soon.
1. In comment 0 and comment 5 I assume you meant your add-ons are missing in the list after clicking the 3-dot menu, right? What's the status in "3-dot menu --> Add-ons" when you met this problem?? Would you help us know?
2. I can't find "Duplicate Tabs Closer" in comment 5, do you mean "Close duplicate tabs" or something else?
3. In comment 5 you said "sometimes aren't available across two separate devices", which is not mentioned in comment 0.
a. do you mean your add-ons are missing after sync with Firefox account?
b. does this also happen w/o sync?
c. if it's only a problem after sync, would you elaborate more on the steps to repro? (pointed us to the Reddit link would be helpful as well)
Thanks.

All add-ons are enabled and available in 3-dot menu -> Add-ons. Though of course, getting to the add-ons listing and actions aren't the same.

Maybe the author has unlisted Duplicate Tabs Closer due to bug 1402640

What I meant is that by this is that this is an issue that exists across all of my devices. I was basically trying to confirm that the issue isn't device specific and that it's a bug in the way that Fennec handles add-on actions. I suspect that the UI is loading before the add-ons are initialised and subsequently their actions are displayed as there's no recourse to fetch the actions afterwards. But I'm not familiar with the code, does that sound feasible to you?

I can confirm that it affects 57 and 58, though I don't have the edit permissions to mark the bug as such.
I have around 10 tabs open on my tablet and around 45 on my phone if that helps.

To explain this as though it was a problem on desktop. Imagine installing an add-on and the button for said add-on only appeared sporadically.
