do you see the entry if you limit results to open tabs, by prepending your search with "% ", for example "% some words".

Yes I do! :) I also see it now in search but it is very far down the list in the awesome bar results and need to almost write entire search term out... which makes it less useful. As a user it kinda felt like magic the first time b/c i wasn't even aware that i was using 'switch to tab' feature. Would be nice if it got higher in the result list but that may be my preference. I don't know if there's much actionable here. This is probably due to the recent change where we show search suggestions above everything else, and that was reverted. We're going to be looking at improving our rankings soon, and switch to tab is certainly part of that.
