Many platforms can natively display the × character in their title bar. However some OSes (such as Mac OS 9) just display a ?. I am guessing that this is because the MacRoman translation does not translate \u00d7. I would like \u00d7 translated to a lower case x (0x78) in all charsets that don't support ×
