Details

Bug 1329692 added the current websense check to the aushelper add-on and we should be able to remove this check in the near future since the check is in previous Firefox versions.
Jim, can this check be removed at this time?

(In reply to Robert Strong [:rstrong] (use needinfo to contact me) from comment #1) > Jim, can this check be removed at this time? I guess it depends on the size of the population out there that has the old versions of websense installed. Since this was enterprise that process might take some time. Can we grab some stats on the number of users still getting caught up by this?

This detection only helps with updating clients and not the Firefox installation. So, unless I'm mistaken, any "users still getting caught up by this" would already be running a version of Firefox that is incompatible with websense. With the previous in mind would removing the detection be ok since the removal would be in Firefox 59?

In other words, if the client is already running Firefox 59 aren't they already using a version that has an incompatibility with websense? I would think it would be similar to how it was possible to remove the JAWS detection in bug 1413727.
Discussed on IRC, we used this to hold up updates for old Firefox revs that had a startup crash when websense was running. Hence newer versions no longer need the detection string.
