Details

Often guys send mail with a subject line which does not resemble the exact contents or cannot serve as a memorizable description. For archiving, it would be nice to have the subject field of incoming mails editable to have a better reference.
I use Edit feature for this purpose - Ctrl+E and Send it again. My personal opinion is that should be some limit of our features. Our application is huge enough and better to improve existing features rather contantly work on creating news ones.
The problem of the 'edit new - send' approach is that the sender changes to yourself, which makes identification of the mail nearly impossible. I don't see that my request is a symptom of featuritis, as editable fields exist everywhere in Mozilla. Such a field would be easier than faking the sender after edit to the original one, since that would dependent on the mailers capabilities and its security preferences. Another simple solution would be to change the current edit feature in a way that makes sending again unnecessary (real editing of the mail instead of cloning).
NO, I think subject lines should not be editable. Rather use sorting, threading, folders, labels to track you messages. Just my 2 cents.
