In working on some code, I came across "simulated-places-node" and wondered what it was. It was originally added as part of bug 1248267 and bug 1248616.
However, bug 1401238 removed the recent bookmarks list from the bookmarks menu. Looking around "simulated-places-node" is now obsolete, so we should just kill it.
(There may be a few other cleanups here as I write the patch).
