test with build 2002051308, Solaris 8
refer to

Thai Character Mai Chattawa (U+0E4B)'s shape is actually like a cross sign (+).
but Mozilla displayed it like vertical bar sign (|) -- which is not correct.
occurs in
- HTML form text edit area
- HTML normal text
Should be fixed.
Or otherwise Thai text could be incorrectly read/interpret by user.
(representation not matches the data)
----
Thai Character Mai Chattawa
(tonemark, should be displayed at TOP or ABOVE level)
Unicode: U+0E4B
TIS-620: 0xEB

Is this only happen on Sun solaris?
I tried put ๋ in html source in composer, and I got a upper dot looking
characters, neither cross sigh nor vertival sign looking.

U+0E01 --> б
U+0E01 U+0E4B --> бы
as I've tested
- Windows 98 SE, works fine.
- Solaris, incorrectly displayed (as reported).
yuying,
it should be at the upper, an upper small cross sign.
try to enlarge the font size, does it still a dot ?

On Windows I can see it shows as upper cross sign when I increase the font size,
but linux seems display as a upper diamond.
I'm confirming it as in Solaris base on reporter.

Prabhat,
i've test this again with build 2002052722.
after increased "Text Zoom" to 120% or more,
it works fine -- Thai Character Mai Chattawa now displayed as +
but with "Text Zoom" < 120%, it still displayed as |
...font hintting problem ?

This is a font, rasterizer issue on Solaris. Solaris apps using the same fonts
(angsa, browai and cordiab) have the same problem. Java2d and Linux (XFree86)
with the same fonts do not have this problem.
Solution would be to add more hinting into these fonts.

fonts problem (font quality/hinting), not Mozilla problem.
