Did you symlink the plugin from it's original location to the mozilla plugins dir?

Reporter, could you download the latest jre (from java.sun.com/j2se), and see if
that works for you? When you link, please link to
.../plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplug*.so, not the one under .../ns610. ns600 is gcc
compiled, whereas ns610 is forte compiled.

Possibly related to bug 124006 ? (reporter, is you Mozilla built with gcc 3.x?)

Sorry for disturbin, but just checked the change log at Mandrake and it says Java support is broken due to the swith to gcc 3.1. So this bug should be marked as a duplicate of bug 124006
