Hi All, I have the responsibility to keep 15 (Win32) Mozilla's updated at one of my customer sites. This might seem like a trivial matter, but the installer constantly overwrites my icon targets on the desktop. My targets typically look like: "c:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe" -P "%USERNAME%" -mail It is a pain in the neck to constanly change the target. Also, it overwrites my icon too (my customers like the red dino head better that the blues snake with the cat's head and glowing eyeballs). If you would check to see if an icon already exists and create a separate new one, it would be most appreciated. (That was all I have to do is erase the new one. Much easier than constantly mis-spelling "%USERNAME%".) Many thanks, --Tony aewell@gbis.com

I don't think this is a duplicate. bug 28174 asks for the ability to customize which icons get placed where using a complicated dialog, this bug simply asks that we not overwrite something that already exists because it may be customized. A quick workaround would be to change the name of your customized desktop shortcut. The installer will continue to put a "Mozilla" icon on the desktop, but won't touch your "My Mozilla" shortcut.

Hi All, "Don't overwrite" is what I am asking for. dveditz is correct in his assumption. --Tony

Wontfix. All installers do this. Please change the desktop shortcut to something else like "Mozilla Navigator" or "Mozilla Webbrowser" or just "Cool Mozilla"
