User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:62.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/62.0
Build ID: 20180515100038
Steps to reproduce:
I have noticed a behaviour change in todays (or yesterday's?) Firefox Nightly build. I am on 62.0a1 (2018-05-15) (64-bit)
1. Open a new tab (I use Ctrl + T)
2. Start typing an address you use frequently. E.g. https://prod-cdn.sumo.mozilla.net/uploads/gallery/images/2017-11-02-18-07-48-12672e.png (from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/awesome-bar-search-firefox-bookmarks-history-tabs )
3. Observe how anything you ever type, until it is a domain name (i.e. it has a dot at the end) will be suggested "Search with Google" (or whatever provider you use). You can see this in my attachment. This behaviour differs from the official Mozilla support screenshot. And it's useless, workflow destroying change.
After hunting through Mercurial, I am certain this change was caused by the commits that are related to this bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1239708
Actual results:
After you hit enter, you will search the web.
Expected results:
After you hit enter, it should've taken you to your commonly used site. E.g. in attachment, the result translate.google.de would be first, not "Search with Google"
