Details
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.0.0+)
Gecko/20020524
BuildID: 2002052404
(I can't believe that there isn't already a bug open for this, but I was unable
to find it.)
When looking at an assigned helper application, the right side of the window is
cut off, it cannot be resized, and there are no scrollbars to move it over.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Edit / Preferences / Navigator / Helper Applications.
2. The window looks fine. Now click on an existing application helper entry.
(Sometimes you need to click more than one for it to "know" you want it to
display information about the entry - also annoying.)
3. Notice that all content to the right (buttons) are pushed off the screen so
that it's cut off.
Actual Results: The window is too small and text/graphics are cut off on the
right hand side.
Expected Results: The window should resize itself to accomodate the content, or
(at least) scrollbars should appear to let the "out of sight" content be brought
into view.
I was about to submit this too, but then I noticed this existing bug.
It only happens if you have a really long piece of data in the helper
application window (usually the path in shown as "Handled by"). Here
are more explicit instructions for reproducing it...
Open up the helper applications dialog
New Type...
enter data -
Description of type: Foo
File extension: foo
MIME type: application/x-foo
Application to use:
/some/rather/extremely/long/path/that/I/just/happen/to/have/dont/ask/why
OK
Click on application/x-foo in the File types: list
The buttons down the right edge of the screen will shoot off
under the right edge of the window. This is the bug.

I have not found that to be the case. The one that's causing me problems is
"C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTimePlayer.exe" I don't think that path is
excessively long, it's a rather typical type of location for a helper program.
Still, with the icon which it displays first, plus the length of text to print
the text of the path, it "expands" the "File Types" sub-window enough that the
"New / Edit / Remove" buttons are pushed off to the right. (The "File Types"
sub-window is expanded *without* an equivalent expansion of the Helper
Application window itself.)
(I have a 2nd entry of "text/html" which does absolutely nothing when clicked
on. I'm not sure if this is a separate bug or not and I'm hesitant to just
delete it because I don't know what that would do.)

From bug 157118:
> When I click on a helper app, the 3 buttons to the right completely
> dissappear. The window size problem holds true for the following:
> Edit/Preferences/Mail & Newsgroups
> Edit/Preferences/Mail & Newsgroups/Message Display
> Edit/Preferences/Privacy & Security/Master Passwords
> Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Cache
> Edit/Preferences/Debug
> The window is not resizable so I cannot adjust for it. I am running in
> 1024x768 resolution.
I cannot confirm a problem with window sizing in any but the Helper Applications
window...
