Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; IRIX IP32; en-US; rv:1.0.0+) Gecko/20020522 BuildID: 2002052223 (This is for mail and news too - pretty much everything, I guess) Double (or triple) clicking on a word selects the word, but if you keep the button down on the second click, it should put the selection into 'select word' mode, so that dragging the mouse selects in word units. What it does now is that double clicking selects the word, but holding down the button on the second click and dragging selects a character at a time again. Triple clicking and holding the button down on the 3rd click should put selection into line select mode so dragging selects in units of lines. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.double click on a word, keeping the mouse button down on the second click 2.drag the mouse 3. Actual Results: part of the word becomes deselected again Expected Results: the word should remain selected and when the mouse is dragged over another word, that word then becomes selected
-> selection

The same thing occurs with the Windows version of Mozilla for me (RC3). Can you please change the platform and OS to ALL, so that it gets better coverage? Thanks
OS: IRIX → All
Hardware: SGI → All
Reporter, this sounds an awful lot like Bug 16203. You say, "...but if you keep the button down on the second click, it should put the selection into 'select word' mode..." Bug 16203 says, "When double-clicking a word, if the second click is followed by a drag, the selection should select in chunks of words rather than characters." Also, your comment about the desired behavior for triple clicking in the original report is also addressed in Bug 16203 Comment 3 (although the suggested behavior is not line by line, but paragraph by paragraph). Reporter, could you please mark this bug a duplicate of Bug 16203, or explain why you think it is not a duplicate? Thanks!
Sounds like it's a duplicate to me. Marking it as such. Thanks. Max. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 16203 ***
