Using either Thunderbird 52.9.1 or the 20180731173940 build of version 60 under Windows 10 if I go to tools -> add-ons -> get add-ons and click on "learn more" near the top of the tab it does nothing. I expected it to display help/tutorial information instead. One reason why I expected that is there is a icon on the left side of the non-existent link that looks like the start button in a YouTube video.
Summary: Clicking on learn more does nothing → Clicking on Add-ons -> Get Add-ons > Learn More does nothing
Verified on Linux, Ubuntu 16.04 and Thunderbird 60 (esr). What is it supposed to do?
It's supposed to open a video. It works on the Seamonkey discovery pane, but not the TB one: https://services.addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/seamonkey/discovery/pane/60.0/WINNT I don't know why, and I suspect this has been broken for many years, as I believe there was also supposed to be another video in the center blank space to begin with. We should probably do something else with this page at some point, I don't think this specific link is worth the time to fix as I don't think that video has value to TB users. I actually think this page would be a good place to start building our own addons front-end that isn't part of addons-server, as eventually that will become unmaintainable for us. I'm pretty sure this page can be rebuilt as a static page that uses the addons-server API and then that could be pointed at any other API service in the future when the need arises and we have a replacement for addons-server.
Probably because TB has JS disabled. How is the link for the "Learn more" created?
The existing video is not really good for what we're doing anyway. We should look at replacement material or remove that entirely.
TB doesn't have JS disabled for that page, it just errors. It has the same error in Firefox as well. The TB page is: https://services.addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/discovery/pane/60.0/WINNT But yeah, agreed with Ryan.
This is a website issue and I've refiled it in the ATN website issue tracker, and am closing this. See: https://github.com/thundernest/addons-server/issues/31

Even if something should be changed on ATN, unless that is happening real soon the current horrible UX should justify removing the UI.

Perhaps Bug 1070496 - Add-ons manager's 'Get Add-ons' discovery pane with empty areas - could be touched at the same time?

I'm confused about why you reopened this? This link is on a website, so it's filed on github. There's literally nothing to be changed in Thunderbird.
