Steps to reproduce:
1. Run Fennec with WR enabled (there's a build at [1]).
2. Go to http://html5test.com/ and wait for it to load.
3. Press the hamburger button in the top left corner, so that the sidebar animates in and the main content goes grayscale.
Expected results:
The animation should be smooth.
Actual results:
80ms composites on Moto G5.

Seems like we're doing something that GPU gets very slow at. I guess it's the filter? A reduced test case would be interesting.

It is indeed the filter.
Note that performance is slightly better on the Pixel 2, (~10ms GPU time per frame rather than 40), but still needs improved.
