User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0 Steps to reproduce: Updated to 60.3. Many modules that I have do not work on 60.3 Actual results: Many modules do not work on 60.3. Mainly for me "Hebrew spell-checking dictionary (from HSpell)". I need Hebrew spelling. Expected results: Make Hebrew spelling available for 60.3 please
https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/hebrew-spell-checking-dictiona/ should just work. Except sadly Bug 739109 - hebrew spell checker highlights all words with latin characters as errors Is that your issue? Or is there more?

Hi Wayne, Many thanks for your response. This is the add-on I used to use. I tried it again now from your link, but Thunderbird simply shows a red bar at the top of the page saying that this add-on is not compatible with Thunderbird 63.0 Any ideas? Thanks in advance

> red bar at the top of the page saying that this add-on is not compatible with Thunderbird 63.0 I assume you first saw what I just attached, then click "allow". But next, I also see the red bar. That seems wrong. Hang tight, I will investigate.

I can install https://addons.thunderbird.net/it/thunderbird/addon/dizionario-italiano/ which is mentioned in Bug 1481900 But I reproduce this with 60.2.1 and bug 1482801 (which Jorg could not), although perhaps it's our problem. Something isn't right. So what is going on here, and how do we determine what is compatible or not when searching the website given dictionaries don't have compatibility versioning.

Magnus, thoughts? see comment 4 ref bug 1456988 — Make dictionaries compatible by default.

(In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk) from comment #1) > https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/hebrew-spell-checking- > dictiona/ should just work. This one has <em:maxVersion>3.1a1pre</em:maxVersion>, the Greek one from bug 1482801 has <em:maxVersion>3.3a1pre</em:maxVersion>. They both don't install for me now. Maybe I had the strict check turned off when I claimed the opposite. The Italian one has <em:maxVersion>56.0</em:maxVersion> and it does install, so perhaps the compatibility by default doesn't cover ancient stuff. There is pref extensions.minCompatibleAppVersion which has a a value of 5, so below that, nothing will be compatible. We could just upload a new version with 60.* compatibility. > Except sadly Bug 739109 - hebrew spell checker highlights all words with > latin characters as errors Variation of bug 1164263 (only reverted)?
Summary: Hebrew spell-checking dictionary (from HSpell) will not install/update. "could not be installed because it is not compatible" → Hebrew spell-checking dictionary (from HSpell) will not install/update ("could not be installed because it is not compatible") due to compatibility to version 3.x only
I don't think we'll fix this in TB or Mozilla platform code. Someone really needs to lift the max version.
