User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0 Steps to reproduce: - Opened an e-mail within Tbird on PC #1. - On PC #2, and within TBird, deleted the e-mail in question. - Pressed the 'delete' button within the window showing the e-mail. Actual results: Nothing at all. Expected results: The window showing the e-mail (on PC #1) should close, surely.

Perhaps. Some testing seems in order.

Are you saying this worked in version 60? If not it is most certainly a duplicate, in which case please attempt to find a duplicate

Are you saying this worked in version 60?

No, I'm not. Rather: I had the problem is 60.I-forget-what (and your form didn't ask for an exact Thunderbird release). I add that I have verified that the problem still exits, on Thunderbird 60.4.0 (on one computer) and 60.2.1 (on another computer - for two computers are needed to generate the problem at issue).

Let me clarify my initial report.

  • Suppose that on one PC, call it PC #1, one is using Thunderbird to view an e-mail that one has received.
  • Suppose further that on another PC, call it PC #2, one uses Thunderbird to delete that same e-mail, without opening.
  • Suppose finally that, back on PC #1, and with the particular e-mail at issue open for viewing, one presses a 'delete' button (within the window containing the viewed e-mail, or else on the Thunderbird toolbar).
  • What happens is precisely nothing: the window showing the e-mail does not disappear from the screen (let alone disappear when the e-mail was deleted on the other computer), there is no error message, nothing.
  • I am unsure quite what should happen. At the least, though: when one presses 'delete' on PC #1, the windows containing that e-mail (on PC #1) should close. For, in short, the problem is this: the delete button ceases to do anything.

However, the problem is not this bug 693204; bug 693204 is about news of deletion travelling slowly from one computer to another. In my case, I saw from Thunderbird's status bar that the news had been received. My complaint is about how the news is acted upon.

Nor is the problem that of bug 1475900.

The problem somewhat resembles, but is not identical to, bug 672410.

bug 1477556 looks a bit similar.

I cannot find an exact or nearly exact duplicate.

Do you also see this issue when using versoin 68?

I am the original reporter. I cannot seem to find the bugzilla account with which I reported the problem.

I do indeed see the problem in Thunderbird version 68: the problem remains reproducible using the steps that I gave above.

A similar issue was investigated at Bug 1380668 - Mailbox do not get update if someone else deletes a mail
