[Affected versions]: - Nightly 66.0a1 Build ID - 20190103220533 [Affected Platforms]: - All Windows - All Mac - All Linux [Prerequisites]: - Have a new Firefox profile. [Steps to reproduce]: 1. Open the browser and navigate to about:newtab. 2. Hover the arrow from the in-content Search bar and observe the behavior. 3. Click the arrow and observe the behavior. [Expected result]: - There is no arrow. OR - The arrow performs almost the same way as before as if it were a normal button with the exception that the search bar is focused instead of navigating to the search engine's main page. [Actual result]: - Step 2: The arrow has no hover effect and the cursor is still a text selector caret. - Step 3: The focus is moved to the search bar and the text caret appears. [Notes]: - If we choose to make the arrow a button, this might help ameliorate the behavior from bug 1517741. - Attached a screen recording of the issue: https://goo.gl/M1fVQp

I discussed with UX (Aaron and Bryan). They said we can just kill the arrow when search hand-off is enabled.

I discussed with UX (Aaron and Bryan). They said we can just kill the arrow when search hand-off is enabled.

Also, there are is an idea to make it an @ and activating the awesomebar with the @ (search shortcuts) dropdown open. But that will be in a separate bug.

I have verified that the issue is no longer reproducible on the latest Nightly 66.0a1 (Build ID 20190108215840) on Windows 10 x64, Mac 10.13.3, and Arch Linux 4.14. The search arrow has been removed.
