Please take a look at the main tracking bug 1477942 and the URL field that is set therein for all the details regarding this project.
We are re-implementing the AwesomeBar results popup, using HTML, and are eager to find out if we missed anything that makes it less accessible than the current XUL AwesomeBar.
This feature is ready for testing when the main dependency - bug 1520799 - is resolved. This is when PI will start testing the feature and we should have feature-parity with the current AwesomeBar.
We're also quite interested in potential improvements we can make to make the AwesomeBar more accessible.

Adding Jamie since he should be heavily involved in this, not only because he provided the extensive a11y browser chrome test for the keyboard interaction of the awesome bar, which may need to be expanded even to cover the new features.

For absolute clarity; there are no new features at this time, we're aiming for feature-parity with the current AwesomeBar. There will be new features added later on, but then we're talking about Q2 this year.
Thanks!
