The panel should not flicker when typing and probably it should animate when
new results are added/removed to avoid the continuous grow/shrink flicker
effect.

I think the flicker is taken care of by bug 1524524, but we might still want to animate height changes. I'm not sure that we should actually do that, as it's strictly more expensive and the UX benefit seems questionable at this point.

Priority: P3 → P5

I agree, we should leave this to Verdi's evaluation, it's not critical for now.

Verdi, do you think the current expeanding/shrinking status of the Quantum Bar popup is good enough? The legacy bar had animations when expanding/shrinking the popup, but that was mostly because of architectural reasons, and while it made it look a bit smoother, it also made it look slower. You can easily compare the experience flipping the browser.urlbar.quantumbar pref.

If we are ok with the status quo, we can wontfix this bug, and re-evaluate when we'll be at the megabar (or similar) stage, later after mvp release.

I think the status quo is fine. Let's spend the time working on the animation for the new design when we get there.

Great, thanks!
