Details
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.0rc3)
Gecko/20020523
BuildID: 2002052306
I just downloaded and installed the Flash plugin for netscape. It correctly
discovered Mozilla as my browser and seemed to install correctly. Then it
closed all my windows (I assumed it was restarting mozilla, but the mozilla
splash window did not appear) and opened up several windows pointing to the
"about Flash" page at macromedia. There was supposed to be some flash on that
page, but it was not working. Also, whenever I tried to go to a different url,
eg. my.yahoo.com, the mozilla browser said down in the status bar, something
like "attempting to resolve host: my.yahoo.com", but never retrieved the page.
Also at that point I noticed that my cpu was maxed out by mozilla (looking in
Task Manager). Using ie, I verified that the page was available. I was about
to attempt to uninstall the plugin, so I killed all the mozilla windows. At
that point I noticed that mozilla was still taking 100% of my cpu even though I
had shut down all the windows. Then I remembered that I had enabled the Quick
Launch thing. So I killed that and then restarted mozilla, and everything works
fine. No 100% cpu usage, navigation works fine, and the flash plugin works
fine. In conclusion, I suspect that mozilla needed to be restarted for the
plugin to be loaded correctly, and the flash plugin installer attempted to
restart it, but failed because of Quick Launch.
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Enable Quick Launch for a mozilla installation that has not had the flash
plugin installed
2.install flash
Actual Results: 1. browser dislplays the "about Flash" page from macromedia
2. Where flash is embedded in that page, browser displays the "you need to
download plugin" message and icon
3. browser cannot navigate to any other page
4. mozilla uses 100% of cpu
Expected Results: Flash media embedded in a page should have shown correctly.
I should have been able to navigate to other pages. Mozilla should not have
used 100% of my cpu
