I don't want "View Saved Logins" popup to appear if I've disabled saving passwords for this website and I don't have any logins saved

Steps to reproduce:

If I disable saving passwords for one domain, and I have no saved logins/passwords for it, I don't want to see the "View Saved Logins" in username or password fields.
It's just annoying.

Thanks for the report… I can see how this could make sense in some cases… what you're saying is to not have the popup automatically appear but having the footer there if the user hits the down arrow (or double click on macOS?) would probably be fine.

Example A:

  • User never wants their bank login saved so they tell Firefox to never prompt on that site.
  • When they visit the bank login they don't want to see the autocomplete popup appear with only "View Saved Logins".

I can't think of a great example where password saving is disabled for one site but the user wants to have easy access to their logins from other origin.

Sandy, do you think this is needed in 67? I'm thinking this isn't a blocker but could be a valid enhancement for users who explicitly choose not to save on a specific site.

Summary: I don't want "View Saved Logins" popup to appear if I've disabled saving passwords for this website (from a little popup in address-bar), and I don't have any logins saved. → I don't want "View Saved Logins" popup to appear if I've disabled saving passwords for this website and I don't have any logins saved

I sincerely think, that it would be more productive and intuitive for users to make just a toolbar button with a key icon instead of whole this mess with a popup footer :)

Matt, this is not a requirement for 67. I agree this is a valid enhancement request. Let's see where this fits in future releases.
