On Windows, desktop notifications pop out at the same location as the default PiP window, i.e. lower right corner on the main monitor (see bug 1545752). Notifications, as well as those pop-outs from Windows notification area, obstruct the popped-out video.
Is it better to have PiP window popped out at the top or middle part on the right edge?
I planned to suggest remembering the last opened PiP position. But things may get complicated when monitor resolution or number of monitors change.

I think we should try to remember the last opened PiP position, as suggested in the comment 1.

Adding an endorsement for this feature request. I would see an option to "Remember last PIP position" with a "Reset" button. Then of course storing it each time it is moved / resized. I use PIP a lot however the default size is smaller than I'd like and I resize the window up many times a day.

It would be pretty helpful if it just remembered the previous position and continue.

This would be great, i tend to use the PiP window on my second monitor and would save me having to move it manually with win+shift+<arrowkey>

One of the MSU students doing a capstone project is taking a stab at remembering the positioning in bug 1578985, so I'm going to dupe this over.
