Steps to reproduce:
- Start Firefox by clicking on the icon.
- Open new tab in firefox.
- Search "$ to inr" query in firefox address bar (Awesome Bar) for Google search.
Actual results:
Google search results displays "to inr" query results instead of "$ to inr" search query. "$" symbol was not included in google search query.
Expected results:
it should have searched for "$ to inr" query in google search. $ symbol should not be removed from search query.

$ is a special char in the urlbar, that allows to search only urls... That's why it's being managed differently.
I agree it may be a quite common char, and probably we should be changing it to something else.
In the meanwhile, you can workaround the problem using "USD" instead of "$".

Fixed by bug 1560228. I cannot reproduce in Firefox 68.0.2.
