I checked the Google Play admin console and the QA team has access to the alpha track, which does contains the latest APKs. I believe the problem is Google Play slowly rolling out APKs on testing tracks, just like their documentation reads[1]:
After publishing an open, closed, or internal test for the first time, it may take a few hours for your test link to be available to testers. If you publish additional changes, they may take several hours to be available for testers.
Data point: the APKs have been live on the alpha track since 10am UTC (today)

@jlorenzo Not reproducible on:
- OnePlus 6T (Android 9);
- Huawei P9 Lite (Android 6.0);
We will check also on affected devices next week, and if everything works fine we can close this as worksforme.
The APKs were live over the weekend. I don't think this issue is valid anymore. Please reopen if you still see it 🙂
