Weird artifact, completely reproducible and persistent on macos (hidpi). Andrew didn't see it on his normal DPI linux machine. The CSS doesn't suggest this should be happening at all.

From discussion on IRC: it seems like github is legitimately (accidentally) requesting two strikethroughs (one on the code, one on the del wrapping the code). In chrome/safari they technically-incorrectly do some coalescing that merges the lines so you don't see this. So we're "right" for doing this (we match the spec), but it's perhaps a webcompat issue that we match the spec?
