At Pocket we use the GeoIP database from Maxmind to get geolocation information from ip-addresses. Maxmind publishes updates every week.
Option A: Purchase updates every X months and upload them manually to an s3 bucket.
Option B: Purchase a subscription and automatically update the database automatically every week.
It's not clear to me how much the database changes every week, and what update frequency would be sufficient.

Yes, we are using the one from maxmind. We don't update it that frequent though.

Sorry, the ticket wasn't clear. This is about the GeoIP database we use at Pocket for geolocation, which is completely separate from the cloud service geolocation.

I don't see this becoming a priority anytime soon, so I'm closing this. For now we can keep updating our database manually.
