Move "Recommended Extensions" and "Recommended Themes" from Extension and Themes tabs to its proper section in "Recommendations" tab in about:addons/Add-on Manager. As for now there is too much bloaty spammy adware, nagware, annoyware in Extensions and Themes tabs. It's like going to "Personal & Business Car Leasing | LINGsCARS" website page ( https://www.lingscars.com/ ).

The recommendations tab already contains recommended extensions and themes.

That reduces this bug to a request to have the ability to disable recommendations in the themes/extensions tab, which is already covered by bug 1571277.

Is there any need to keep this bug open?

There is need, it's simply to clean and move out "Recommended Extensions" and "Recommended Themes" to its proper section in "Recommendations" tab in about:addons/Add-on Manager. I don't see any logical and useful reason, why this information is doubled, when it already has its own section. For now, it just look like some bloaty spammy adware, nagware, annoyware website pages - like for example this funny joke one "Personal & Business Car Leasing | LINGsCARS" website page ( https://www.lingscars.com/ ).

"Recommendations" tab should have 2 main groups:

1. Recommendations selected by Mozilla

• Extensions
• Themes

2. Recommendations only for you (visibility controlled by fixed bug #1571277)

• Extensions
• Themes

It is already the case that "Recommended Extensions" + "Recommended Themes" = content "Recommendations" tab.

Depending on the telemetry/"personalized add-ons" pref, the recommendations are personalized (or not).
So if I understood you correctly, your main issue here is the lack of UI to disable prefs in the extension/themes list, which means that this bug is a duplicate of bug 1571277.

I think the request here is to remove recommendations from the list views and only show them on the Recommendations tab. This can currently be done through about:config but there seems to be some confusion about what options there are in about:preferences. We're going to look into this in bug 1583600.

This could be looked here in this bug, instead of creating another one duplicated bug about same topic, but whatever, it will be nice when this will be finally fixed either way.
