There were several extensions in old, pre-Quantum firefox that still some of them have not get fully developed as they used to be, because of missing APIs.

  • Session Manager
  • Tab Mix Plus
  • Adblock Plus
  • Others...

This bug serves to list all popular old addons tracking bugs in one place to track the implementation of the necessary APIs to fully implement that extension.

I really hope Firefox will be better soon, more than anytime before!

Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW

Tab discarding should probably be a direct dependency of some other ticket, it's not really an extension.

And DTA was also very popular (bug 1188835) but for some reason nobody ever cared much for it.

Tab discarding should probably be a direct dependency of some other ticket, it's not really an extension.

Some dependents of Meta-bug 1462813 are related to tab discarding WebExtensions.

Product: Firefox → WebExtensions

After 2 years I'm very sad that we do not have yet those old, powerful and popular addons.
Was it a good decision to migrate from XUL to WebExtensions? I, as an end-user say No!

Severity: normal normal → S3 S3
