Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Thunderbird suggested compressing the folders -> I've confirmed.
  2. One message header was loaded sometime before that.
  3. During the folder compression execution (process worked with another mailbox) I had tried to load remainder part of the message.
  4. The message had been loaded and then had deleted.

Maybe it makes sense to block all other mail operations during compression?

Actual results:

The downloaded message had been lost.

Expected results:

The downloaded message should NOT had been lost.

Sadly a known problem.
