When I prefer a lightweight debugging experience, I want to disable heavier visual features like inline preview, so that I can focus on the code.

I was thinking about adding a btn where there is a red box. What are your views ?

Great idea! My only reservation I don't know of an icon we could provide that could convey "Inline Preview". I do love how accessible that would make inline preview toggling, though. Switching over to the settings pane would be fatiguing and annoying, imho.

Perhaps the lightest weight option is to add a context menu option in the editor for "Enable Previews", "Disable Previews". This is probably ideal if by default for now it is off while the feature is experimental.
We can tackle debugger settings in a settings-specific project.

Decision today was to just add it to the context menu for the source area; where it would be most contextual and it is the easiest option to implement.

I actually completed this as part of https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D43490 / bug 1576679. I'll wait for this to be in a day to close this bug.
