Note
- When setting the default search engine from the address bar drop-down, the selected search engine is applied only after modifying the search string
Affected versions
- All
Affected platforms
- All
Steps to reproduce
- Launch Firefox with a clean profile.
- Open a new tab and type something in the URL bar.
- Hover Wikipedia one-off button and right-click on it.
- Click on the Set As Default Search Engine contextual option.
Observe: The context menu is closed, the address bar drop-down suggestions are still displayed, the search engine displayed on the new-tab is changed (under the address bar drop-down), but the current search string will still be searched with the previous default search engine. - Tap Enter to start the search.
Expected result
- Search is performed with Wikipedia (the search engine that was just set as default).
Actual result
- The search is performed with Google (the search engine previously set).
Additional info:
- if, after step 4, the user inputs or deletes at least one more character to the search string, the search will be performed with the search engine that was just set as default.
