Firefox Developer Edition starts opening new windows when trying to view pdf file in browser

Steps to reproduce:
Open a link to a pdf file or just open a pdf file from file-system.
Actual results:
Browser on Mac starts opening new windows like 2 or 3 windows/sec and in my download folder it creates as many .part files.
I've tested this behavior with different pdf and links from trusted sources like Microsoft.
Expected results:
Just view the pdf file in the browser and do not open new window.

Enter about:preferences into the address bar and set all PDF entries to "Preview in Firefox". You create an infinite loop when you choose to either open in Firefox, or open with the default application when that file type is associated with Firefox in the operating system.
