Attached file Firefox SharePoint accents.docx (deleted) —

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0

Steps to reproduce:

When synching a SharePoint online folder whose name includes accents (french names) so that the folder is copied and synched between SharePoint server and my Windows 10 PC.
Office 365 licence needed for testing

Actual results:

The folders' names with accents are wrongly displayed (see attached file)

Expected results:

Folder's name with accent should display the caracters with accents e.g. é è à etc...

Please note that synching via Opera or Chrome is fine

Hi Jocelyn,

Thanks for the details. I've chosen a component for this bug so that the developers may look at it. We'll await their answer.

Regards, Flor.

Component: Untriaged → Layout: Text and Fonts
Product: Firefox → Core

If I'm understanding it correctly, this is not a Layout issue; it's not that the text is being displayed incorrectly, but that the folder name is being corrupted (the accented character is replaced by a Unicode REPLACEMENT CHARACTER, most likely indicating an encoding error/mismatch somewhere).

Moving this to Network for now, at a guess... but not at all sure at what level the issue is actually happening.

Component: Layout: Text and Fonts → Networking

I don't think networking touches the bytes, it just passes up what it receives. Maybe Internationalization owner might know where unicode decoding is happening.

Component: Networking → Internationalization

we need the site to reproduce this.

Priority: -- → P3

The site is Microsoft Office 365 SharePoint ; you only can access it with a company Office 365 licence...

I'm not able to recreate this, but I want to make sure I'm doing it correctly.

Sharepoint uses oneDrive for syncing.

I've created a folder called Aéèà in my documents area in sharepoint.

I sync to oneDrive which shows up in my Communication Site documents.

The folder is synced with the correct accents.

Are you using something other than oneDrive?

I agree Mike, the problem seems to have been fixed (by Mozilla or by M$oft?).
Anyway, this is good news and thank you so much to whom did it :-)
Best regards from Grenoble France, take care.
