Hi, please can you do a few things that might help us track this down:
- Visit about:config and search for
browser.search.region
- what is the value of that preference? - Which localisation are you using? You can see this at the bottom of Help -> Troubleshooting Information.
- Please could you attach the search.json.mozlz4 from your profile. Ideally one from before you upgrade that shows this problem, but your current one may be enough.
- browser.search.region: DE
- Localization: ["en-DE","de-DE"]
- I have attached search.json.mozlz4

Thank you, that's very interesting. Interestingly the search.json.mozlz4 file indicates that it thinks you have a en-CA
(Canadian English) build installed. Do you know if you started off with that and installed a language pack or something?
In any case, I'll take a look at this next week and see if I can reproduce or work out what's going on here.
I have some ideas - namely that you have just a add-on installed that is providing the search engine and that's the only one displayed. I'm wondering if there's some checks that are getting things wrong when we only have a add-on installed search engine displayed.
Thank you for taking the time.
Yeah. This is not a bug, I have installed the Canadian language pack myself and I still want to use it.

I've just had a few attempts at reproducing this, and unfortunately I can't. My best guess is that for some reason some of the information in the search file had become corrupted/missing, and the upgrade triggered a rebuild which reconstructed and by default displayed those engines again.
We have been seeing some corruption in the list of engines that are stored, which we're investigating (xref bug 1589710). I've referenced this bug here so we don't forget about it.
For now, I'll close this as incomplete. If you are able to reproduce, I'd be interested in the search.mozlz4.json from before and after, and logs from the browser console with the preference browser.search.log
turned on.
