When focusing the address bar on an already loaded tab which has a tracking protection icon and a security state icon (+ maybe a "Permissions" icon), the search icon appears to the left of existing icons.

A common UI pattern is to show an icon inside a text box and before the text input, as a visual label that explains what the text box is about. Typically, a magnifying glass icon signals a search box.

With 3 or 4 icons shown before the text while intending to edit the text, the visual signals are a bit overwhelming:

  • Is this a search box? Well the search icon is far to the left, so maybe not.
  • If I type some text, will it have a relation to tracking protection or permissions?

This only happens when the shown url is the valid and loaded one, in any other state only the lens is visible. The design isn't finalized anyway, so this isn't actionable.
