Would be nice to have a direct link to your votes from the initial screen.

Instead of just adding that link, why not add the entire yellow box to the
bottom of the initial screen?
Comment 2•25 years ago
|
||
Good idea.
That probably would have been the topic of this bug in the first place, but when
this bug was first introduced the yellow box did not exist.

Mozilla.org customization (I don't think anybody else uses votes anyway). Not
going to do this for core.

I think you should put the footer on the initial screen in the core. That would
solve a whole set of generic problems.

Doing this would require having the initial screen be a cgi file instead of an
html. However, you could real easily customize it by using a single template
HTML file with %replacements% in it for things like the header and footer from
parms, and then have your index.cgi file just read that in, swap the replacements
for the real data, and spit it back out to the browser.

Why not change the initial screen to a cgi file? Why not just have it output
the main screen HTML followed by the footer?
Comment 8•24 years ago

Endico: Are you considering this bug (it has a high number of votes) for a
mozilla.org customisation at any point?
If not, it can be closed WONTFIX, as Tara has stated it won't make it into the
main distribution.

Tara said she didn't want to include "my votes" link on the front page because
many bugzilla installations don't use votes. She didn't say anything about
including the footer on the main page, which seems to be what most of us really
want.

Summary: "My Votes" link from initial screen. → Place footer on initial page.

What's the status of this? To me this is very important.
If I used Bugzilla on a regular basis (which I wish I had time for), it could
save me up to 25 seconds a day, or just over 2 1/2 hours a year.
Thanks

2.14's release date is "soonish", and this is listed as P2 for 2.16, which to me
means that unless this becomes really difficult to implement it is a release
blocker for that release.
The release date of 2.16 is currently unknown (our release criteria are
currently feature based), and as there's no patch on this bug yet the checkin
date of this feature is also very much currently unknown.
It is strongly likely, however, that 2.16 will be released (with this feature)
within 6 months.
If you're using mozilla.org, its quite possible you'll see this sometime before
the release.
If not, you should be able to take the checked in patch that will eventually
appear on this bug even before then and apply it to your installation, or simply
update to the CVS version if you're feeling lucky.

This got assigned to endico because Tara said it was a moz.org issue. But it's
not, so I'm taking it back :) Doesn't necessarily mean I'll be the one to fix
it, but there's more of the relevant people making use of the email watch feature
watching me.

This is basically a dupe of the "index.cgi" bug. Can someone who knows what that
is dupe it, please? :-)

How is this "place footer on initial page" bug a duplicate of "configurable
index page (using template toolkit)"? I can see how this bug *depends* on bug
80183 but not how it is a *duplicate*.
IMHO, someone authorized should reopen this bug.
Comment 18•23 years ago

Johan, it looks like bug 80183 is going to be fixed for Bugzilla 2.16 (the next
version), so there's no need to keep this bug open.

clearing milestone for invalid/wontfix/worksforme/duplicate so they'll show up
as untriaged if they get reopened.
