I was chatting with Kendall yesterday and he mentioned this work. This would be a good bug for one of the new hires to work on.
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1587958 +++
Similar to the work done in bug 1428466, but for GCP.
Fortunately we can re-use most of that work here, so this should be much more turnkey.

We're aiming to begin initial tests within the next week, and running for a week or two. I think we'll be ok with not having it, similar to initial GCP testing. But we'll definitely want it very early in Q1.
