RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1215415

People

(Reporter: racahill, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:71.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/71.0

Steps to reproduce:

Description: I added a blocking site (social media for me) add-on on my work device and the same add-on has been installed via Sync on my Home device.

I understand this is a feature that has been added to Sync ( https://wiki.mozilla.org/Services/Sync/Addon_Sync#Can_I_have_different_enabled_states_on_different_machines.3F ), but it should be changed in my opinion, at least users should have possibility to override via about:config.

Actual results:

the add-on has been installed on a home device

Expected results:

The add-on should not have been installed, possibly based on some about:config directive.

I should have a possibility NOT to synchronize installed add-ons on specific devices

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Thanks for the report. We are tracking this in bug 1215415, but in the meantime, you can consider disabling addon syncing for your entire account, and manually updating the list of installed addons on each device.
