Steps to reproduce:
Open Fire Fox Nightly
Actual results:
Get error "Cannot Find Server" after a few seconds pushing the "Try Again" button works. While traveling was not able to log into the hotel network due to this error. Had to open MS Edge and log in with it the Fire Fox would work. Upon returning home get the same error however, it will work after a couple of trys.
Expected results:
Fire Fox Nightly should have opened in the home page.
Hi,
I was unable to reproduce this issue on my end, I tried on Windows 10, with Firefox Nightly version 74.0a1 (2020-01-27) (64-bit).
Does this issue occur with a fresh profile as well? You can find the steps here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager
You can also try testing if the issue is reproducible in safe mode, here is a link that can help you:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
If after doing this you can still reproduce the bug, would you send a screenshot or a video of the bug?
Thanks in advance. I've already chosen a component for this bug in hope that someone with more expertise may look at it. We'll await their answer.
Regards,
Jerónimo.
I followed the instructions to add a new profile. This seemed to work I didn't get the server not found alert however, my bookmarks were gone along with my two add ins (ghostery and last pass). I have attached a screen shot.

It sounds like bug 1612027.
Could you check in your original profile if setting the network.trr.mode pref to 0 fixes the issue?
The only place that I find network.trr.mode is in a file called Prefs.js. If I edit that file using Notepad I can change the setting from 2 to zero. When I exit Notepad I save the file but, it changes back to 2. I searched the registry but it has no file named network.trr.mode.

Oh, please change it in about:config
I think that should be enough.
Changing it in about:config seems to have fixed the problem. It was 2 and I changed it to zero. How did it get set to 2 in the first place?

Good to know. You probably enabled it from about:preferences > Connection Settings
Or maybe you did it a long time ago and forgot. In any case, since you are on nightly, it seems to be caused by bug 1610836 which is now fixed.
