Problem

  • The Netmonitor's main toolbar is a very busy, hosting a lot of different features

Possible solution

In RDM, Console, and Accessibility, we've started using a "Settings" button (with a cog icon) to represent a menu with panel-specific settings and sometimes a few extra actions.

We could perhaps add one in Network and move some of the lesser-used options there, to bring more attention to more common options.

Here's what I would move into this menu:

  • Persist Logs
  • (separator)
  • Import HAR…
  • Save All as HAR
  • Copy All as HAR

This lets us remove 2 large-ish items from the toolbar, replaced by one small icon button.
Note that moving "Persist Logs" into a dropdown menu is consistent with what we did in the Console.

I wouldn't move "Disable Cache" or the throttling button there, because they're more critical and if checked or changed the information should be readily visible.

Absolutely agree, I'd love to have that menu!
