User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020802 BuildID: 20020802 Mail/News should not show messages of unknown MIME subtypes even if of the text type. An example is: text/x-paf Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use the URL or send a message to mimetest@imc.org with a subject of "M4.1.4" without the quotation marks. Actual Results: The message appears as text/plain Expected Results: The message should be blank with an attachment. Message Source example: From - Sun Aug 11 00:15:39 2002 X-UIDL: B0001717135.MSG X-Mozilla-Status: 0001 X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000 Return-path: <daemon@above.proper.com> Received: from above.proper.com (unverified [208.184.76.45]) by UV-SERVER02.ultravision.net (Vircom SMTPRS 5.1.202) with ESMTP id <B0001717135@UV-SERVER02.ultravision.net> for <brantgurganus2001@cherokeescouting.org>; Sun, 11 Aug 2002 00:14:31 -0500 Received: by above.proper.com (8.11.6/8.11.3) id g7B5EKL10689; Sat, 10 Aug 2002 22:14:20 -0700 (PDT) Date: Sat, 10 Aug 2002 22:14:20 -0700 (PDT) Message-Id: <200208110514.g7B5EKL10689@above.proper.com> From: mimetest-human@imc.org To: Brant Langer Gurganus <brantgurganus2001@cherokeescouting.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/x-paf Subject: M4.1.4 This email is marked as being text, but an unregistered subtype, so a normal user should NOT get this information without a question. M4.1.4 For unrecognized subtypes, show or offer to show the user the "raw" version of the data after conversion of the content from canonical form to local form.

Note that the "Steps to reproduce" neglected to mention that the mimetest address sends a message back, that's the one to be viewed. Reducing severity because I don't see a "major loss of function." We have far more visible MIME compliance bugs (e.g. bug 182627) which are designated "normal."
