Details
Affected versions
- Fx75.0b8
Affected platforms
- Mint
- Fedora
- Ubuntu
Preconditions
- Have Firefox Flatpak installed.
Steps to reproduce
- Open firefox flatpak from the console using: flatpak run org.mozilla.firefox
- Navigate to about:support.
- On the 'Update Directory' line, click the 'Open Directory' button.
- Close Firefox.
- In the file manager opened in step 3, double click the Firefox executable file.
Expected result
- Firefox is opened using the profile from step 1 (sandboxed profile).
Actual result
- Firefox opens a brand new profile, in a non-sandboxed folder.
Additional notes
- Checking about:profiles, it can be noticed that the local directory path no longer points to the sandboxed folder.
- The 'Open Directory' button for the profile root folder works correctly, but opens the non-sandboxed folder of ~/.mozilla/firefox/'profile'.

(In reply to Cristian Baica [:cbaica], Release Desktop QA from comment #0)

- Navigate to about:support.
- On the 'Update Directory' line, click the 'Open Directory' button.

- In the file manager opened in step 3, double click the Firefox executable file.
Flatpaks can't be run by double-clicking on executable. You have to either run it from console or by clicking on .desktop file.

Found in triaging. Going forward, Flatpak-related bugs will no longer be filed under RelEng, but instead in Core/Widget:GTK
where folks have much more in-depth knowledge on this. If the issues are RelEng related, they can be filed against Release Engineering :: Release Automation: Other
and we'll take care of that.
Component: Release Automation: Flatpak → Widget: Gtk
Product: Release Engineering → Core
