MacOS installer places an icon on the mac desktop

Details
When you use the Mozilla installer to install moz on a MacOs 9.x machine it places a shortcut to the application on the Mac desktop. This is a very non-mac thing to do. I don't know of another installer that does this. Can we stop Mozilla from doing this. I've seen this with all version of the installer.

related: bug 28322 (should ask first), bug 137958 (overwrites anything called 'Mozilla' without asking).
