Over in Bug 1506416, I just allowed Windows users to register Firefox as default PDF viewer. I wonder if we could benefit users and increase stickiness by having Firefox offer to set itself as the default PDF viewer when viewing a PDF file (much like we offer to set Firefox as the default browser), or by displaying a Contextual Feature that achieved the same.

We discussed this in one of our recent meetings and I think we should hold off on this until we can reduce the number of unsupported features in pdf.js. It is great that users have the option through the OS now.

Can we reevaluate this now that we support form filling?

Great notion. I'm involved with some similar work around setting Firefox as the default PDF handler on Windows (see Bug 1743914, which provides support for simple experimentation around this) and we might want to do something like this as well.
Romain: Jim: just getting this onto your radars.

You're mentioning the same bug you are commenting on :D
Did you mean to mention another bug?
