User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:76.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/76.0
Steps to reproduce:
I bookmarked the page "about:config".
Actual results:
When typing "config" into the search bar it will about complete to "about:config/" (with a slash at the end).
This page does not exist.
Expected results:
Autocomplete to "about:config" with the slash.

FYI the same thing happens with "about:preferences" as well.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

You don't need to bookmark about: pages for autofill to work, it does regardless, just type "about:c"
This is similar to Bug 1502666 but not a straight dupe, I honestly think it's wrong that typing "config" we try to autofill "about:config", and that's likely due to when we started trimming any protocol instead of just http/https

Given the other bug is 2 years old, I assume this is not gonna be fixed anytime soon?
Is there any workaround? I created the bookmark so I can quickly enter preferences or config.
In Chrome I can just type "sett <Tab> <Enter>" or "flag <Tab> <Enter>" which is quite a bit faster than "about:pref <Enter>" or "about:con <Enter>".

There is no straight shortcut to about:config, that's not a page that one would need to access daily usually. You could assign a keyword to your bookmark like "conf", and then just "conf+Enter", but I can't tell you how long that will work, hopefully in the meanwhile this will be fixed.
