Yes, that makes sense as this will be the meaningful interaction for the feature and will allow us to compare it to the other tools we have.
I think it's not required to add anything beyond that, unless we have a specific question we want to answer. I can't think of any, so number of times a user clicks on the badge seems sufficient for now.

Yes. This collection is Telemetry so can be controlled through Firefox's Preferences.

Yes, Gabriel is responsible.

Category 2, Interaction.
Is the data collection request for default-on or default-off?
Default on for all channels.

No.

Yes.
Does there need to be a check-in in the future to determine whether to renew the data?
No. This collection is permanent.
