User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.16; rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0

Steps to reproduce:

I was browsing and often tabs will crash unexpectedly. There seems to be no consistent cause of tabs crashing.

Actual results:

A screen appears that says: 'Gah your tab just crashed. We can help! Restore tab / Close Tab'.

Expected results:

The browsing should've continued like normal.

Looking at the crash report this seems to be Bug 1657440 that has a promising fix starting with Firefox Release 80.

amcd, if the user agent is correct, looks like you are on Firefox version 79 (which doesn't have that fix), can you please update to Firefox Release version 80 or 81 and see if you still get the crashes?

I'm getting continual crashes on Google sites with 81.0.1 in my MacbookPro

I can supply as many of these as you like - google.com and gmail crash continually :/

Looks like this isnt hapenning in my other profiles, so that one could have become corrupted?
I'll keep it for now in case you need more details but it looks like I can use a new one to get around this problem...

Simon's issue should be unrelated - there is not a single crash report for OS X 10.16 with that signature in the last 6 months. Bug 1670481 has been created for that issue.

Crash Signature: [@ (anonymous namespace)::BytecodeParser::parse ]

In case you still have that profile at hand, please try a Firefox refresh (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings) on it and check out google.com and gmail once again.

Yes, I've got the profile but it looks like Firefox has updated to 82.0.2
I've started using it and so far no crashes - they happened almost immediatelly before.
I'll let you know if I see any new ones, but happy to raise a new bug if I can reproduce it consistantly.

Thanks Simon! Please do raise a new issue if you encounter it again. If it happens it should have a new kind of crash signature and it would better to start it off clean for investigations since for this one the initial reporter did not respond back.

I'll close this as resolved:incomplete and hope you won't encounter it on the new Release but if you do, please do submit a new issue and thank you very much for responding back and providing the needed details.
