STEPS:

click on telnet URL
OBSERVED BEHAVIOR:

Terminal.app launches, and shows what looks like a shell command attempt to
telnet to the hostname.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:

This is broken in Linux and Mac OS X in Mozilla trunk&branch builds (bug 33282).

I don't know why this is working, but I wanted to make a note of it.
The trunk problem is in bug 96217.

Summary: telnet: URLs work in newer builds → telnet: URLs work in newer builds -or- Mac OS X 10.2
Did this just start working in 20020919?
That's my point, I think they added this in 10.2. I don't know how to look at
the system-level URL database, otherwise I would :)
works for me on 10.2.2, chimera 0.6.

the system's url database can be managed by internet explorer or by moreinternet
(http://www.monkeyfood.com/software/).
note that a security issue related to the telnet protocol and terminal has been
resolved by the apple's Security Update 2002-09-20 (see
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120150).
So why is this a bug?

QA has a standard set of tests, when something unexpected happens, we file bugs.
At the time I filed this, it wasn't clear why this was happening, and I was
testing some Chimera milestone, so I filed the bug.
